Josh Niblett “One Plus” Speed Camp Offered

The Josh Niblett “One Plus” Speed Camp is open to all athletes ages 6-13. Their are two session of the camp, one July 11th from 6-7:30, and the other July 25th from 6-7:30. Both will be held at the Buccaneer Stadium. The cost is $30 for each session. Registration will begin at 5:45 each night.

8 YO Nationals Win Metro; Four SMP Teams Win Metro Titles, Tying Park Record

After several rainouts, the 8 YO National team won its Metro finals Thursday with a 15-3 win over Vestavia.

8 YO American Black Claims Metro Title

  • The 8 YO American Black defeated Mountain Brook Gold, 14 -10, Tuesday to win the Metro Championship.  The 8 YO American team went undefeated in Metro play this year, and this is back-to-back Metro titles for the age group.  Congratulations to Brooks Ballintine, Morgan Beaver, Jack Campbell, Pierce Covin, Peyton Fox, Rhyne Hogue, Brennan Holden, David Jalbert, Michael Scott Myers, Tanner Plummer, Bradley Renfroe and Carter Short.

9 YOs Sweep Metro Championships; 8 YO Nationals in Finals Tuesday

Congratulations to the 9 YO National and American Black teams for winning Metro titles last night!

  • The 9 YO Nationals defeated Mountain Brook to win the Metro Title, 6-1, Monday. This is the age group’s third consecutive Metro National title. Up next for the team is a trip to the USSSA World Series in Gulf Shores.
  • The 9 YO American Black team defeated Mountain Brook twice (1st game, 11-9, and 2nd game, 3–2) to win the American Tournament.  Congratulations to Jordan Brewer, John Cox, Cade Davis, John Thomas (Moose) Deery, Cole Edgeworth, Jeppa Kilgore, Brendan Murphy, Ethan Pomeroy, Cooper Prince, JD Smitherman, Brodie Watson and John Michael Williamson.
  • Also, the 8 YO National team defeated Mountain Brook, 17-4, and Vestavia, 20-4, Monday and will play Vestavia again tonight at 6:30 at Homewood for the age group title.

Weekend Metro Results

Here are the reported results from Metro tournaments over the weekend:

  • The 8 YO American Black team defeated Mountain Brook Gold, 20-2, Oak Mountain#1, 7-2, Saturday and Mountain Brook Green, 9-5, Sunday. The American Black will play for the Metro title Tuesday at 5:30.
  • The 8 YO National team lost to Mountain Brook, 9-4, Saturday, but bounced back Sunday with wins over Homewood, 14-2, and Hoover East, 14-3, and will play Mountain Brook again Monday in the early game with the winner advancing to the Metro championship in the late game tonight.
  • The 9 YO National team defeated  Homewood, 19-1, Mountain Brook, 13-3, and Vestavia, 18-8, and plays an opponent to be determined in the championship game today at 7:30 p.m.  Veatavia and Mountain Brook must play at 5:30 to see who survives. The SMP 9 YOs are seeking their third-consecutive Metro title.
  • The 9 YO American Black team defeated the American Orange team, 16-4, in the first game of the Metro tournament. Black also defeated Oak Mountain #1, 10-5, and Oak Mountain #2, 11-10, on Sunday to advance to the championship game against Mountain Brook tonight at 6 p.m. Cooper Prince’s complete game on Saturday, 6/18, lead the 9 YO Black to victory over Vestavia Blue (6-4) to move on in the Metro Tournament.  Great job Cooper Prince!

Metro Results From Wednesday

Here are the results from the opening of the Metro Tournaments.

  • The 8 YO National team won its opening game, 11-0, over Oak Mountain.
  • The 11 YO National team went 2-3 in Pool Play. SMP 11 year old National team went 2-3 in Pool Play.
    • SMP 3, Alabaster 2  – Reid Walker and Chris Dentremont combined on a great pitching performance.  Tied at 2 in the in the top of the 6th, Walker lined to left field and stole 2nd and 3rd and with two outs Gage Wilson single in the winning run.
    • Homewood #1 15, SMP 13 – Homewood was down to their last two outs down 13-3 in the 4th inning and battle back to win.
    • SMP 10, Homewood #2 4 – Brian Kinder pitched a great game and a good team hitting performance led SMP to a crossover pool victory.
    • SMP takes on Pelham at Mountain Brook today at 5:30 on Field 6.

Here are the reported scores from last night’s Metro action:

  • The 8 YO American Black team won its cross-pool game against Vestavia Red, 23-1, and is the No. 1 seed in its upcoming tournament.
  • The 8 YO American Orange team is the No. 3 seed in the same tournament after  defeating Oak Mountain, 20-16; Helena, 20-17; Oak Mountain #2, 22-7, and Homewood, 27-2. Orange lost to Mountain Brook Gold, 18-21, and Vestavia Red, 10-15.
  • The 9 YO American Black team finished 2nd in pool play.
  • The 9 YO National team is undefeated in pool play and will be the #1 seed in the Metro Tournament  starting Thursday at Hoover East.
