March 18th SMP Update

March 18th, 2010 by SMP

HAVE PANCAKES THIS SATURDAY AT WING’S
Remember to support SMP at “Pancakes in the Park” by having breakfast Saturday from 8-11 a.m. at Baumhower’s Wings at Patton Creek.

Tickets are only $5 each and may be purchased from any SMP player. Milk and orange juice will also be served and SMP hats will be on sale at the event as well. Money will be accepted at the door if you would like to participate and do not have a ticket.

For more information about this event contact John Parker at 568-8103 or parkerjjj@bellsouth.net. Anyone interested in volunteering to serve may sign up for a shift by contacting Kristi Tolbert at 937-0333 or tolberts4@charter.net.

CORY REAMER GUEST SPEAKER AT OPENING DAY CEREMONY
Former SMP, Hoover High and University of Alabama standout Cory Reamer will be the featured speaker at the Opening Day Ceremony on Saturday, March 27th. This special event will take place on Cuppett Field (Field #2) at 11 a.m. The National Anthem will be played along with a parade of athletes at this fun event (we will have a working PA system this year!). No games will be held during this time so every team can participate.

March 27th is also Picture Day and pictures are being scheduled to compliment this event. Team and individual photographs will be taken across the street at Village Green in The Preserve development.

SCHEDULES AVAILABLE ONLINE
Uniforms are in and being distributed which means games are just around the corner! We encourage all teams to keep up with schedules and results on the SMP website. The first of the more than 500 games to be played at SMP this Fall begin this coming Monday, March 22nd.

SMP WIFI UP AND RUNNING
We hope are guests are enjoying the new wireless network that is up and running at the park. The ID is “smp” and the password is “playball.” Other improvements include newly-painted curbs, improvements to the lighting, shade structures, landscaping improvements, signage improvements and, of course, the best fields in metro Birmingham.

AND DON’T FORGET TO CHECK THE CALENDAR
As always, we encourage our families to visit the SMP website at www.shadesmountainpark.org as all events are posted on the calendar. Now let’s play ball!
