As 2008 draws to a close, Shades Mountain Park would like to wish you and your family all our best. This will be our final email communiqué of the year, and we hope you are using and enjoying the newly-redesigned website at www.shadesmountainpark.org. There have been several park improvements since the Fall season ended and we are confident that 2009 - the Park’s 50th season! - will be our best year ever.
Here are three updates from the park we want to share with you:
1) Registration for Spring baseball
2) SMP merchandise

1) Registration
Cost per child this Spring will be $160 ($135 for T-ball) with a maximum family registration fee of $350. The registration fee includes hat, jersey, socks, trophy, team picture, ticket to a Barons’ game and admission to Park Day.
There are two ways to register:
- In-person registration will be held Jan. 10 and 17 (times TBA) at Regions Park. This is a great time to try visit and we encourage this method of signing up. It’s quick and a lot of fun.
- You may also register online (any time between now and Jan. 17) through the City of Hoover Parks and Recreation Department at http://www.ci.hoover.al.us
2) SMP Merchandise
Anyone wanting to purchase SMP-branded merchandize - swag as our kids might call it - may contact Charlene McNiel at 837-9163. SMP’s popular orange/black hats are $20, the new, gray “50th Anniversary” long-sleeved shirts are $18 (youth) and $20 (adult). The orange or black Shades Mountain Baseball shirts are on sale for just $10. We also have the orange “Washington National” style shirts for only $15. Check or cash only, please.
3) Year-end Donations
This is a perfect time for you, your employer or business to participate in the Park’s banner program. For 2008, it is a great opportunity for company’s to close out their books with a TAX DEDUCTIBLE donation to a NON PROFIT organization.
For 2009, this is the perfect time to get included in an organization’s marketing budget for the upcoming year. The Banner Packages include the following:

Please keep in mind that for every package you sell, you will receive a SMP gift card of either: $100 (President), $75 (Executive) or $50 (Player) to use on registration fees or merchandise.
