To provide major upgrades and renovations to our park, the SMP Board of Directors has put together a new fundraising plan for the upcoming 2008-09 season.
It is hoped that through increased fundraising we can make some of the much-needed park improvements (this list is at the bottom of this post) a reality. All members (parents) of SMP are needed to help in this project. The Park has put together a corporate sponsorship package that can be sold to a variety of businesses, while at the same time we have also put together an incentive program for all members who are able to sell one of these packages.
Three different Sponsorship Packages are available:
- President’s Package. This includes: one banner at the park for a year, Sponsorship in the Park Directory, Sponsorship and web link on our web site, Cost: $500
- Executive Club. This includes: one banner at the park for a year, Sponsorship and web link on our web site, Cost: $400
- Player’s Club. This includes: one banner at the park for a year, Cost: $300
Facts to share when talking to a potential sponsor about SMP:
- Each spring SMP has more 800 boys and girls playing in the park and another 300-plus each Fall. With parents and grandparents (not to mention neighbors and friends), a business will have exposure to more than 1,500 people every weekend.
- SMP also hosts regional tournaments which leads to more exposure outside of the
Hoover/Birmingham area. - The average household income in Hoover is $74,000 annually.
- This is considered a tax deductible donation and all businesses who participate will be given the proper forms for tax returns. This is a great investment for any business.
For your efforts in selling one of these packages, you will receive the following:
- President’s Package: $100 SMP Gift Card
- Executive Club: $75 SMP Gift Card
- Player’s Club: $50 SMP Gift Card
Gift cards are redeemable at Shades Mountain Park and can be used for merchandise purchases and registration fees. Please feel free to begin selling. A sponsorship form is available for your use and may be received from Steve Fulmer at: 834-2724 or 428-4470. With your help, we can make OUR park a better park for OUR kids. Please turn in all sponsorship forms and monies to Fulmer as well.
Desired park improvements (not in order of importance):
- Convert existing BBQ building to open air shelter with restrooms
- Upgrade lower restroom adding countertops/auto flush devices
- Add approx. 16 ft to existing picnic pavilion in center of park
- Cover batting cage between fields 1&2 with roof and install turf
- Install shade canopies on fields 3,7,8&9
- Relocate storage room on fields 1,3&4. Replace doors and make more space in dugouts.
- Pour concrete pad at field 9 for bleachers.
- Pour concrete pad at field 7 for batting cage.
- Add equipment storage behind pressbox on field 7.
- Add safety netting on fields 3&4.
- Upgrade field lighting on several fields.
- Fence repairs on various fields.
- Add retaining wall behind field 2 to keep storm water off outfield.
- Install new turf in field 4 batting cages.
- Install new metal roofs on pressboxes at fields 1,2,3,4,7,8&9.
- Repair dugout roofs at fields 7,8&9.
- Upgrade playground with new border fences and shrubbery.
