We enjoyed seeing everyone at Fall Baseball registration this weekend. Fall Baseball is just around the corner.

If, for some reason, you were not able to register to play, you may download our application form here and register and pay at the Hoover Rec Center and week day this week during their normal operating hours.

The cost to participate will be $85 per child for Hoover residents and $110 for non-residents. In response to the parent survey from last fall more games (6, up from 4 in 2009) will be offered this Fall, while still offering the chance to learn from Coach Rick Davis and the Hoover High staff through the fundamental clinics. Clinic dates will be Sept. 12, 15 and 19 and games will be played each Sunday from Sept. 26 through Oct. 31.

Practices will begin the week of Aug. 28. Play in Fall is focused on fundamentals and development.

Hitting Facility Project Started

July 21st, 2010 by SMP
Respond

Site preparation work has begun on the new hitting building at Shades Mountain Park. The metal building, which will sit between Fields 1 & 2 (Cuppett Field), should be completed by the beginning of Fall Baseball. Once complete it will provide SMP players a place to hit year-round, regardless of weather and also provide a covered area for players and fans in times of inclement weather. Stop by to check it out if you are near the park. We will try to get a picture to post to our Twitter account later this week.

Spring Baseball Survey Now Active; Still Room for 4th Graders to play Flag Football

July 13th, 2010 by SMP
Respond

Parents, our Fall Baseball calendar will be released soon so please keep an eye on our website – www.shadesmountainpark.org – for news and information about that in coming days.

Meanwhile, we invite everyone who participated in Spring baseball to take our online survey. The survey takes less than two minutes to complete and may be found at www.quickscores.com/shadesmountainpark (please look on left under “Registration/Surveys”). We want to hear from YOU about your experience in hopes we can continue improving our youth recreational baseball program.

And finally, NFL Flag Football is still available for 9 year olds/upcoming 4th graders (child must be age 9 on Sept. 1, 2010 or going into 4th grade) by calling Randal Griffin at 444-7755 before the end of this work week (please call before visiting the Rec to be sure Randal is in). This is the only age the Hoover Rec is leaving open at the therefore registration of players will have to take place at the Hoover Rec in Randal’s office. NFL Flag Football is a great opportunity for fun with only one practice per week and games on Saturday making it extremely compatible with Fall Baseball.
