Thank you to everyone who participated in this weekend’s used baseball equipment drive! We had many items donated and will be giving those to an inner city baseball program.

Very cold at park today. Urge anyone practicing to use common sense and dress kiddos warmly, or postpone practice.

The fields at SMP are closed today due to inclement weather. As always the Information/Rainout line is the No. 1 way to get information at SMP, but of course we try to keep website updated too.
Here are a few notes from last night’s Board meeting:
As always minutes from previous meetings are available here (under “Downloadable Files”).

We don’t have any hard numbers, but it seems like the sale at Dick’s Sporting Goods this past Saturday was popular. Thanks to everyone who turned out to support that. Special thanks to Carrie Pomeroy, Brandy Marcrum and Donna Crain for volunteering at the event and making it possible for the rest of us to save a few dollars on baseball equipment.

All leagues who held evaluations have completed those. We thank everyone for the support making those work despite the cold weather. All those registered should hear from a coach in the next week to 10 days as the teams will begin practicing the week of Feb. 22nd.

SMP parents and coaches should be aware of two upcoming opportunities.
The first is a Spring Break baseball camp at Birmingham-Southern to be held March 15-19. BSC players and staff will lead the camp and participants may attend two Panther games that week. For details or to register, contact Coach Jan Weisberg at jweisber@bsc.edu or 226-4797.
UAB is also inviting SMP teams to attend its games. There are opportunities to join the Blazers on the field. Reservations are required and may be arranged through Coach Josh Hopper at jahopper@uab.edu or 934-5182.
